VP OEM Bracket at a great price
My original bracket in my 2005 Larson was rusted paper thin on the bottom mounts due to it being tucked into a location where water would sit until it dried out. While I cringe at the cost of VP OEM parts, the AM version of this was not cheaper due to Cecil Marine’s discounted OEM pricing. Was an exact fit replacement and this time I mounted it on nylon ½ inch standoffs so it no longer stands in a small puddle of water! Thanks Cecil Marine for the great price and fast shipping!

Cecil had the best price for the OEM part, so I went with it. If yours is like mine, the mounting dog ears rusted out while the balance of the bracket is intact. If access is limited to your trim pump and this bracket, be prepared. I expect you will leave your pump lines hooked up, so you will need to disconnect the pump from the bracket. Bring vise grips and a good set of wrenches because you need to hold the bracket and unscrew those bolts which use *yellow* lock-tite, which is strong. You will also need a drill to remove 3 rivets from the bracket. 1 rivet holds the cover for the fuse. The other 2 hold the flexible mount for the relays. I also mounted a rudder position indicator on the back of my bracket, so that made my r&r a bit more involved. You will want to bring a magnet to gather all the rusted pieces from the old bracket and some cleaner (Spray 9, etc), to clean and prep the location for the new bracket. You will note that the bracket is formed so that water can go underneath, but the mounting area is still going to get wet. Mine lasted 16 years, and the rusting was probably due to how often I clean my engine compartment because no saltwater ever hit this bracket. Work with another person who can go grab tools if you need them. It's easier. Good luck!
